About Us
We are a group of DIY investors that whole-heartedly believe that individuals can and should educate themselves and manage their own money. That is, of course, if they are willing to dedicate the time necessary to do so. In today’s low interest rate environment, paying even modest fees to a financial advisor can significantly eat into your profits. At the end of the day, it’s YOUR money and you alone are the best shepherd of your capital.
We are extremely passionate about investing and collectively have decades of experience trading and analyzing stocks, options, futures and forex. The markets have humbled each and every one of us at some point (and we are not afraid to admit it). We stopped searching for the “holy grail” of investing long ago and we take each day as it comes with an open mind. While we have plenty of academic credentials (e.g., CFA charterholders, MBAs, FINRA securities licenses) and professional investment management experience, the experiences that we cherish the most are the invaluable lessons that we have learned from managing our own money. We’ll forever be students of the market.
We started Parsimony Investment Research to share our experiences, strategies and research with fellow DIY investors. At the end of the day, we are all in the same boat…so let’s set sail and preserve and grow our wealth together!
What Does Parsimony Mean?
The textbook definition of Parsimony is really the core of our investment philosophy:
The quality of being careful with money or resources;
Economy in the use of means to an end.
The Law of Parsimony (a.k.a. Occam’s Razor), a principle most often used in science or philosophy, means the adoption of the simplest assumption in the formulation of a theory or in the interpretation of data (i.e., all else beiang equal the simplest solution is the best). In layman’s terms…it’s the Keep It Simple Stupid (K.I.S.S.) method.
The more inputs (information) you use in your investing process, the more complicated it becomes… and complexity rarely yields superior results. This is why we try to keep our investing strategies as simple as possible.
